About Septembres

Septembres Poetic Upcycling

Every year, more than 3 billion bottles of wine are consumed in France. While 100% of glass can be recycled today, recycling one kilo of glass produces between 300 and 500 grams of CO2.

This means that one out of every two recycled wine bottles is thrown into the atmosphere as CO2.

We have therefore set ourselves the mission of reducing the carbon impact of recycling wine bottles by giving them a second life around 3 pillars: Upcycling, Made in France and social ecology.

Upcycling

Upcycling: transforming an object that has become useless and thus prolonging its existence. This is the basic pillar of Septembres! Everything must have a second life as often as possible.

This starts with the bottle of wine that we use as a whole. The top of the bottle becomes a table lamp and the bottom a tapas glass.

In this way we do not produce any glass waste for the transformation of the bottle into a decorative object. We apply this upcycling approach to all the components of our products.

Our packaging, once used, becomes bird feeders, our cushioning materials are old textile fibres that can be recycled by taking them back to a Le Relais terminal, for example, and our decorative candles, once consumed, become a pot for herbs ideal for cooking.

At Septembres we take the upcycling approach as far as we can!

"The best waste is the waste we don't produce".

Made in France

In our project, in line with our upcycling approach, it seemed obvious to us that we had to favour Made in France channels. Our territories are full of know-how that we wanted to promote.

Our ambition is to make a 100% Made in France product with suppliers as close as possible to us.

To achieve this, all the wine bottles we collect are washed, cut and sanded in our Bordeaux workshop. And 80% of our suppliers come from New Aquitaine.

On average, our supplies travel less than 200 km to reach our workshop.

Social ecology

Our last pillar at Septembres is called social ecology or solidarity. What is social ecology? It is a vision of our society where social barriers are broken down in order to develop solidarity, mutual aid and diversity.

That's why we at Septembres have chosen to work with ESATs.

What is an ESAT? It is a health and work-based assistance institution that promotes the social reintegration of people with disabilities.

Our aim at Septembres is to develop a company that is beneficial to our society as a whole.

At Septembres, we are convinced that the companies of tomorrow are those that will be built on strong environmental convictions as well as humanistic societal values.

"The social and solidarity economy is a moral economy, a solution to the challenges posed by economic, social and environmental crises."
