Considered as waste in urban spaces, the Dryade collection enhances dead leaves through functional objects. These leaves are reused and reclaimed here rather than burnt and become a non-destructive and sustainable resource of nature. We make these objects by hand by combining dried leaves and jesmonite which is a composite material based on gypsum and aqueous acrylic liquid without solvent. Robust and fire-resistant, we protect our parts with an odorless varnish that is harmless to humans.
We are Donia Ouertani and Nolwenn Michéa, two designers working together at Foghar Studio, a creative studio located in Lyon (France).
----
• Color : Opaline - tint N°2
• Materials : Crushed dead leaves, Ocher of Roussillon, Jesmonite, French vegetable oil, solvent-free varnish
• Finishes : satin
----
Maintenance :
Clean with a damp cloth or sponge and dry with a dry cloth. Not suitable for dishwasher or microwave. Jesmonite is a porous material, so it is recommended to clean immediately if stained.
Warning :
This object was made by us, by hand, and from a material containing crushed tree leaves. It is therefore possible that the object has few air bubbles. Also, slightly darker spots may also be present as we are using a natural French pigment powder (Roussillon ocher).
Objects from the same collection may therefore have imperfections and slight differences in color and / or surface appearance. These objects should not be considered as tableware, but can be used to arrange and present food (examples : nuts, fruit bowl). We sand the underside of our objects to reveal more of the crushed leaves. A vegetable oil is then applied, followed by a varnish over the entire piece to protect the object and the surface. The difference in color is therefore normal and visible in the photos of the product.
Packaging:
To follow a responsible approach, our packaging is recyclable and manufactured in France and / or collected from companies in order to avoid excess waste. Cardboard boxes are collected from French retailers, before they go to the dumpster, in order to give them a second life ! To protect our pieces inside the packages, we use biodegradable tissue paper and padding also ollected from local businesses before they are thrown away.
