Para is composed of three steam-bent fabric elements, each connected by a thin wire. The shape and appearance of the converging pleats can be individually altered, as the apex of each fold is adjustable through a steel stopper. By doing so, the mobile’s character shifts from a precise angular geometry, towards an elastic, fan-like sculptural object.
Designed by Nadine Göpfert.
Nadine Göpfert’s work is characterised by translation processes. Initially trained in textile and surface design, Göpfert questions the individual’s relationship to fabric through personal and cultural memory. Subtle and circuitous visual references allow her to generate unfamiliar and progressive patterns and forms. While her work clothes and envelops the human body in an unseen way, it frequently projects outwards and can be grasped as a spatial practice as well.
