Over centuries the relationship humans have had with nature has significantly changed. We come from being closely connected to the landscape we live inside. A surrounding that changes from day to night, summer to winter. Where every element is on one scale or the other, under constant motion and somehow in balance with its surroundings. Today, precise planning and building methods have made it possible to shape our homes with defined lines and planar surfaces. Yet, architecture is thought of in a static way and often feels exactly like that. – The way we are aware of and perceive space is rather sensual than a rational matter. In that context, the mobile is thought of as a metaphor for various movements in nature, where an object reacts to its surroundings and can bring a lively, calming and serene quality to space.
